2008 Contest Summary

Burrrrr……..I believe that was the general feeling during this year's Women’s Fishing Contest (WFC). The weather was cold, windy and the last few hours brought rain. Some boats were docked much earlier than the 3pm deadline which was evidence of a tough day of fishing, a challenge for all and a far cry from the 2007 contest.

The 2008 WFC had 11 registered teams, but only 10 boats docked for weight in. There was talk about sending out a search party for the missing 11th but I’m sure they were snuggled up someplace warm and dry.

The Smart Basses braved the elements until the last minute to claim braggin’ rights for the WFC 1st place team 2008 with 4 lbs of fish. BRAVO GIRLS!

Community Sanitation Girls came in at 2nd place with 2 3/4 lbs and there was a 6-way tie…yes a 6-way tie with 2 lbs for 3rd place. The Get Err Done Girls (one of the 6) won by raffle ticket pull for 3rd place prize monies.

Good Sports mention goes out to the Hookers who bought in an itty bitty little fish weighing in at 1/8 lb earning them itty bitty little cartons of Gold Fish crackers….good show!

Lorrie Lee of the Smart Basses and Janet Armstrong of Catch of the Day both won for biggest fish, way to bend your pole ladies!
